Exercise 2.1 Scene with depth

With exercise 2.1 we are required to find a scene with depth and then to shoot 5 – 6 images with different focal lengths. At the moment I am only in possession of three fixed focal length lenses: 28, 50 and 85mm therefore I have taken three images.

The street where I shot the images offers an easy perspective for viewing the changes for focal length.

Shot at 50mm with fixed focal lens (natural eye persepctive)

Shot at 85mm with fixed focal lens

The natural angle of view for the human eye is closer to 50mm than the other two focal lengths.  Both the 28mm and the 85mm offer certain distortion to the image exaggerating it by either greatly intensifying the line structures in the image at short focal length (wide angle) or compressing and flattening the image at longer focal lengths beyond 50mm.
